Description

"The Haywire Heart" is the first ever written examination of heart conditions in athletes. However, any person who competes in endurance sports like cycling, triathlon, running races of all distances, and cross-country skiing will find in it information for themselves. This book presents the evidence that overdoing those sports can damage your heart forever. In the text, the reader will find advice on what to watch out for, what to do about it if you have heart problems, and how to do endurance sports safely. "The Haywire Heart" presents the developing research into the conditions known as "the athlete’s heart." The authors discuss the prevention and treatment of heart conditions in athletes like arrhythmia, atrial fibrillation and flutter, tachycardia, hypertrophy, and coronary artery disease.
